3D PRINTING
3D Printing is a process for making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model. This is done by laying down many successive thin layers of a material. It brings a digital object into its physical form by adding layer by layer of materials. 3D Printing is being used in the creation of Patient Specific Implants. 3D Imaging from CT Scan is used to create a biomodel of the patient's spine. The surgeon then plans a metallic implant on the 3D Model to correct the deformity in the spine. This model is then fed into the 3D Printing machine and the implant is prepared. This patient specific implant proves to be a perfect fit for the patient's spine and the outcomes of the surgery are far superior as compared to a regular implant which is produced in the factory.
